Covert Farms Family Estate

Special Announcement

To our dear friends, customers and local community,

It has been one of our greatest joys and proudest achievements to work with, and welcome you to our fourth-generation, family-run farm for the last 65 years.

Like so many other businesses, ours has been faced with significant challenges over the past several years. From Covid and wildfires to highway closures and rising costs, it has become clear that it is no longer economically viable to operate as we have been.

These challenges, however, have also given our family the opportunity to come together and reflect on the future of our business. With my husband Gene and I now thinking about succession planning, and our children having decided to not take over the winery business, we have made the decision to scale back our operations. We are proud of what we have accomplished over the past decades, however, effective today, we will no longer be offering visitor experiences and the 2023 visitor season will sadly have been our last. This decision has not been an easy one, but it is one that is best for our family.

We will continue to produce our estate, regeneratively-made wines, which can be purchased online and found at restaurants and retailers throughout BC and parts of Canada. Our store locator can be found here.

We would like to acknowledge and thank our incredible staff, some of whom have worked with us for more than 20 years. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your passion, commitment and dedication.

It has been our privilege to welcome locals and visitors from near and far to Covert Farms Family Estate over the past many years, and to share with you our love of regenerative farming and viticulture. We plan to continue our commitment to sustainability in hopes of leaving this world a better place than we found it. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support

Sincerely,

Shelly, Gene and the Covert family

Visitor Q&A

Are you now closed to visitors?

Our farm is now closed, and the 2023 season was our last year offering experiences to the public.

Why are you closing to visitors?

Like many other businesses, we have been faced with extremely challenging times over the past several years. Covid, wildfires, highway closures, rising costs – these have all been contributing factors in our decision to close down our visitor experiences. It is no longer economically viable to operate as we were.

These challenges, however, also gave our family the opportunity to come together and reflect on the future of our business. With my husband Gene and I now thinking about succession planning, and our children having decided to not take over the winery business, we have decided to slow down operations and to focus on what we all love doing together: connecting with the earth and farming sustainably.

Are your wines still available?

While our wine lounge will now be closed, our estate, regeneratively-made wines will continue to be available for sale on our website at www.covertfarms.ca, available through our wine club, and can also be found at restaurants and retailers throughout BC and parts of Canada. Our store locator can be found here.

I’m a club member. Is your wine club still operating?
Yes, for our wine club members it is still business as usual! You will continue to get your shipments without delay, and for any questions or concerns around your membership, please do not hesitate to contact our Club Manager Zola Dore at wine@covertfarms.ca.

Thank you for an incredible 23 years!
